From the bottom of my heart, thank you.
Thank you for giving me the opportunity to serve you as a member of the Alabama Court of Criminal Appeals. I promise to live up to the two simple promises I made once the campaign began — I will apply the law as it is written, and not make it up from the bench, and I will look after the rights of all, most importantly victims of crime.
This has been a gratifying experience for me — traveling to all 67 counties, meeting thousands of Alabamians. It reinforced my faith in and my love for our state. Whether you had elected me or not, I would be richer for the experience. As you have elected me to this important job, I have a great challenge before me. I want to do right by you and for you — just the way my parents taught me.
I wish to congratulate my opponent on a well-run race. I appreciate Aimee Cobb Smith’s call of concession and congratulations. I am proud that we both ran a positive race on the issues.
You probably have a bad case of electoral fatigue — it would certainly be understandable. But I didn’t want to let another moment pass without thanking you for your support and for this opportunity. God bless you. God bless our great State of Alabama. And, always, God bless America.
